"J’Overt, where mud play, to start the bacchanal, Monday and Tuesday, we play mas all day, enjoy the festival…."
So now that we’ve covered all the Carnival bands and who is playing with who and in what section why don’t we talk J’OVERT!!!
Now I didn’t play mas when I was in Trinidad for Carnival last year but I did play with a J’Overt band (No Draws) and yes I was liking myself :)
So anyone have any suggestions for this year???? I heard yellow devils are good and some word of a chocolate band of some sort. I really want to be in a band that plays with a lot of colors (I'm loving the blue and yellows) last year it look like mud I got paint up in - but nevertheless I enjoyed myself.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
SEE YA ON THE ROAD!!!

Well I'm playing mas with Tribe my section is Dame Lorraine B, and Tribe is bringing out their own J'ouvert band called "red ants". thats all i know for now so you can check them out later.
Ok sicadiva I think Tribe is in assocation with RedAnts that's who run the J'ouvert with them I played last year. It was good. Red Ants is like the promoter.
And I'm glad somebody brought it up, I've been a bit afraid to mention it on my own blog lol, rushing the brush, j'ouvert is more last minute.
But anyhow I want to check out Silver mudders, I like the whole silver look thing, if not I may got back with Tribe/redants. But I straying elsewhere 1st.
I played with Red Ants we had a time, doh mind they mess up the people walls in St. Clair! I also know lots of people who play with mudders and yellow devils.
I definitely going back to Red Antz again (see how I loyal to Tribe) LOL
Tribe/ Red Ants J'ouvert was inclusive too, for all who want to know. Drinks and breakfast.
You get your cup, and a water bottle full of paint. They had Cocoa and paint.
Security was good all morning - big up to the Diego fellas.
They don't go through town, which maybe important for some.
Although the breakfast truck was on the move - it wasn't no stand, and I had some troubles with my second chit. It was decent and I had a time. Good music and ting. When I EVENTUALLY got my second lot of breakfast, and was scoffing I got interviewed by some tv station.Don't know which(things change alot when you gone for 6 years). But I don't think it was a T&T station cause she was asking 'what is a doubles?' I gave her and the camera-man a
lil taste. That was by King George park. I left after that.
I paid to play jouvert one time back when 3-canal had first bring out blue devils.
I don't feel we really got anything for our money. it had more stormers than anybody else in the band. Which isn't really a bad thing I guess, but I don't know if that has changed
Girl, I does just put on meh sneakers, vest and short pants and head out. By the time the sun start to spit in yuh eye yuh looking like yuh play in bout 4, 5 band.
I played j'ouvert w/ 3canal in 2k2 & the music gets no better than that!!! I had the BEST time although the band does not include any alcohol or food. But they do go thru town which scares off some people.
trinigee - I went to a 3canal/h20phlo show in TNT last year in May and it was the best show I've ever seen!!! both groups are incredible live :)
Yeah, I heard that show was getting on. Where the blogger gone, btw?
Bubblenut has been sick since last thursday actually... I think she'll be up and running by the end of this week...
I'm here - thanks for noticing hottie :) been sick for a minute, but with that said what's with going through town on J'Ouvert that get people scared :) Real maddness I guess - to tell you the truth my ass don't even know the route I took with my J'Overt band this year but I am sure I made my way through town because I ending up bathing at the side of someone's yard and then hit the road for the day ending up at the beach by about 7 in the evening - O should post a picture of what a look like by that hour - Oh God!!!
